I would like it better if you could search the whole bible in the app.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I may add that feature in the future.
DeleteGreg,
DeleteExcellent app! One big problem right now is that the Sunday gospel has the right versus referenced but in the Gospel of Mark when we are now in the Gospel of Matthew (Cycle A). You probably already know about this.
As a Catholic priest or use your app every day and probably preparation. Thank you for your excellent work!

ReplyDeleteHi Greg,
ReplyDeleteI do love your NABRE app, since I go to a weekly bible class I use this app everyday.
With saying that, I get a lot of crashes(about once a week),are you working on a fix ?
What I do is delete it and reinstall it,but I lose all my highlights and bookmarks :(
I hope you find the time to correct this problem. God bless you and thank you.
ss10dave@gmail.com
The book of Genesis keeps crashing. I tried other books with success, but could neveR get Genesis to pull up. Thanks. Also, it would be nice to be able to select certain chapters within a book. It's already been said, but I thought that I'd chime in as well. Psalms is a little difficult to "spin through" when you are looking for Psalm 143!
ReplyDeleteYour can select chapters within a book. Chapter numbers are on the right hand side.
DeleteThank you! That answer became clear to me AFTER I posted. Oops! I uninstalled and reinstalled, and that fixed my issue with Genesis. Thanks for this wonderful app!
DeleteDear Greg,
DeletePeace be with you. Would you consider porting this app to Windows Phone?
I have been looking into this. Difficult to debug with only a few users reporting this. If anyone could provide more details please send them to me via email. thanks.
ReplyDeleteMost common fix is to delete the app and re-install.
Dear Greg,
DeleteI deleted the app and reinstalled as you suggested and it fixed the problem. Thanks.
Tom
I just downloaded on my IPhone yesterday. But the app does not work. It stays on the first page for just about 5 seconds and then it returns to the IPhone page.
ReplyDeleteMel,
DeleteMy first suggestion would be to remove the app and then reinstall it.
Please make sure you have ample storage free, such as 50MB.
Greg, thank you for putting this together. I see from your pic that you have a young child, I too have a daughter. Have you considered working on the 'family' version? It would be the perfect compliment to this version. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteIf the USCCB creates a family version I will publish it. thanks for purchasing the app.
DeleteI have had this app for a year, and had many bookmarks. When I took the latest update, all of my bookmarks were deleted. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteMike,
DeleteI did note in the update any existing bookmarks/highlight would be lost.
Sorry, I had to change the format and the previous wouldn't work.
Ok thanks. Next time I'll write them down first. Smartphones have made me dumb, I can't remember anything anymore unless it's on my phone. Thanks for the great app. Who says Catholics don't read the bible? Thanks to this app, I have my bible with me 24/7!
DeleteYour welcome and thanks for the nice comment. Yes, we all need to read it more.
DeleteNo matter what I've tried, I can't get back to the index which means I can't get to the books. Help!
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Click right in the middle of the top banner and it will bring you to the index
DeleteBarbar,
DeleteClick on the book title in the top bar to go to another book.
You can move to a different chapter by swiping left/right.
You can increase/decrease font size by pinching in/out.
You could also click on the "info" button which has this information listed plus alot more
DeleteThanks! I never thought to hit the banner!!
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Where can I hear the audio of the shole NABRE?
ReplyDeleteI mean the audio of the whole NABRE
ReplyDeleteYou can google this.
DeleteHere is one hit - nabre audio cd
http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?rh=n%3A283155%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A2682077011&keywords=nabre
How do we know that this was approved by the USCCB?
ReplyDeleteAll publishers of the NABRE bible go through an approval process before they can publish their content.
DeleteGive them a call and ask.
Remove highlight is not working. Not able to remove bookmarks. This should be disclosed if this is how it is designed.
ReplyDeleteIf you are on a ipad you can remove a bookmark by using the swipe gesture (swiping your finger across the bookmark). You can also do this for a highlight.
DeleteIf on an iPhone you can remove either by choosing the edit button at the top.
You can also choose clear hightlight.
Greg... I downloaded the NABRE iPhone app the other day and really like it. I have been using it at morning Mass and following the daily readings. I noticed today that there were no Daily Readings. Your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteWas a bug in that day's data. Working fine the next day.
DeleteGreg,
ReplyDeleteDo you know where I can get a audio version of the NABRE?
There is one on amazon.
DeleteGreg - Thanks for a great app. Everything works as advertised. One question/request: Is there a way to see the upcoming readings of the day. I have a scripture group that meets on Wednesday to study the upcoming Sunday readings. It would be great to use this app. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Unfortunately not at this time. Sorry. Of course, there are several website with reading,. usccb.org is one of them.
DeleteIs there a way to delete bookmarks?
ReplyDeleteYes, swipe over the bookmark.
DeleteDear Greg,
ReplyDeletePeace be with you. Would you consider porting this app to Windows Phone?
Thank you. I will take a look at porting it.
DeleteDisappointed that there's no TOC to quickly pick the book you wish to read. Searching for Sirach gave no results until I switched to a phrase but then I couldn't just stay in the book and continue. Frustrated. Thought this was just what I wanted.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
DeleteThere is a TOC. Just touch the book title and you will get a list of books and chapters.
Just swipe the finger to go to the next page.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThe update to iOS 7.1 has broken my app. I will have a fix out very soon.
I can no longer see the readings for the day. I click on the arrow in the upper left hand side and it takes me to the chapters. I didn't want to post as anonymous but I don't have any of the other accounts. My name is Rebecca. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
DeleteAs I mentioned above the iOS 7.1 update has caused this issue. Should have an update available to the app very very soon.
I am sorry, I did read your post after I had already posted mine. I am sorry. Thank you. Rebecca
ReplyDeleteGreg, I really like your app very much. As someone who attends Mass on Saturdays I was wondering if there might be a way to be able to see Sunday's readings on Saturday. Or, for that matter, perhaps a calendar chooser that would enable you to see the readings for a select day. An example is what you can do on the USCCB web site (which I use on Saturdays :-). )
ReplyDeleteJust wondering!
Thanks
Rick
Thanks Rick. I will look into it.
DeleteNice job, Greg! Thanks very much! I And your implementation of the "day-switching" feature is very intuitive. I love it. Well done!
DeleteReleased 4.0 today which fixes the issues caused by the iOS 7.1 update.
ReplyDeleteon my iPad I can't do this:
ReplyDeleteDaily Readings - swipe left/right to go to previous/future days readings.
nothing happens when I swipe.
also, how do I know which version I have? It doesn't show up in my list of apps,
thanks for any help.
Within the area of the daily readings swipe left/right.
DeleteNeed to be running iOS 7+ and the make sure the app has been upgraded to the latest.
I wonder if you could add a feature for notes, so I can write in my responses to God's Word. Love the app and use it daily.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice comments. It's on my to do list.
DeleteHello Greg,
ReplyDeleteWhat are the steps/procedures necessary to clear the "History" portion of your App.
Greg: Excellent app, I am in the process of trying the all in one app. I d/l'd the NABRE for my wife on her iPad and she loves it. Only thing I can't figure out is how to delete the history. (I've explained, as in her iPhone history of calls) that it really is a mistake to delete history, but she likes things clean... Is there a way? If not could you install a swipe?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Tim
Thanks for the nice comments. Would agree with you as history always exists, hard to clean up so to speak. I placed it at the bottom so an user can easily ignore it. Let me think about it.
DeleteHi, I am not sure if something is wrong with my phone but I cannot get the readings for today. Thank you, Rebecca
ReplyDeleteSorry , I will push an update out very soon with the readings for the remaining portion of the year.
DeleteIt's at the point where there are no daily readings available either on the iPhone or iPad apps. Initially there were no second readings available, but as of 8.31 there are no readings available on either app
ReplyDeleteSorry , I will push an update out very soon with the readings for the remaining portion of the year.
DeleteThe app is great! Very helpful for keeping the Word of God close at hand!
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful for me if there was a way to bookmark entire passages (rather than individual verses). For example, if I want to bookmark Matthew 5:13-16, it shows up as four separate bookmarks - for the longer passages, you can rack up quite a few bookmarks relatively quickly. It would be great if there were a way to select an entire passage and capture it as one bookmark (perhaps this functionality exists and I'm just missing it). Thanks!
Thanks John for the suggestion. Something I will consider in the future.
DeleteI'm upgrading to an iPad Air 2 from an original iPad. Can I retain my bible app highlights and bookmarks
ReplyDeleteIs there any way of transfering my Bible app bookmarks and highlights from my iPad to my iPhone?
ReplyDeleteYou would have had to do a backup on your old and restore this to your new ipad.
DeleteI purchased this app as I have many other Bible apps. Other Catholic Bible apps offer audio of the New Testament only, I thought this one advertised that capability and therefore I purchased it. This app does not have that capability or the other functions it is advertised to have. I'm not able to highlight or swipe to different chapters. The links function works. I'm disappointed and frustrated.
ReplyDeleteThere is no audio and there is no mention of audio in the app description.
DeleteYou can use the swipe left and right gestures to move between chapters.
Dear Greg,
ReplyDeleteI intend to purchase this app but need following clarification
1) Do we get access to Mass Readings for any day of the year ?
2) Does it display Full calendar (colour coded) for all of the liturgical seasons
3) Does it display Saint of the Day
4) Does it include All the Mass Readings for every liturgical cycle (A,B,C,I,II) ?
5) Does it include "Order of the Mass"
6) Does it include common popular catholic prayers
I am comparing your app with iMissal as I was using it before. But it lacked selection of user defined chapter or verse which I find in your app. But the above features are important and very helpful esp. Item no 1), 2) and 3)
My app Catholic All-In-1 has everything except #3 and 4.
DeleteThanks Greg, but it states that it is available only for ipad. I have Iphone (iOS 8) and hence cannot download this app. Will it release for iphone as well. - Rgds - Navin
DeleteSorry, just iPad.
DeleteThanks Greg, I have installed the above App. It's nice. Great work. Hope to see inclusion of more features in future such as Liturgical Calendar, Saint of the Day, Prayers and Order of the Mass - Rgds - Navin

ReplyDeleteHow do I remove verses from the bookmarked category. I using an iPhone 5S
ReplyDeleteYou can use the swipe gesture.
DeleteEnjoy using the app
ReplyDeleteQuestion how can i delete a book mark
use the swipe gesture
DeleteThe 2016 readings are in the next update. Apple is behind on their app approvals, hopefully will be available to download in a week or less.
ReplyDeleteGreg
The date is behind by 1 day . How can update it because when I sipw it, it jkeeps on returning to the Dec 25, 2015
ReplyDeletethanks
Kindly disregard my inquiry - I got it already. thank you
ReplyDeleteJust downloaded your app a,to read the Bible in a year and love it. A big problem I am having is whatever book or chapter I go I choose to go read, the app opens a completely different book and chapter. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi Todd,
DeleteThanks for the nice comments. Yes, currently when you return it takes you to the last chapter you were reading outside the bible in the year. I will make a future improvement to return you to read the bible in a year if this was the last thing you were doing.
Thanks Freddie for the nice comment. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteHave downloaded the iPhone version of this app, and especially appreciate the "Read Bible in a Year" function. However, I do not find it very user friendly, with apparently no place to go for detailed instructions. (The "Help" section is far too brief.) eg. I find it difficult to move between the Bible text and the footnotes at the end of each reading. As well, accessing the Table of Contents for the entire Bible seems cumbersome (at least for me). I am also used to apps that allow me to delete history easily - Why do I have to keep the pages and pages of "Verse History" at the end??? Another point: the "Search" mode by chapter, Book, O.T. or N.T. contains a reference to Romans (apparently used at some point) that will not allow me to remove it. . .
ReplyDeleteSorry if this sounds overly critical, as the idea behind this app is extremely good - but I am used to e-Readers that are more user friendly, with a broader range of detailed instructions for the support of its users. Thanks for listening and God bless!
Hi Greg, I use Read Bible in a year daily and want to point out a few readings that are skipped in the Old Testament: the last 8 chapters of Ester, Nahum, 2 & 3, Habakkuk, 2 & 3, Zephaniah 2 & 3 and Haggi 2. Thank you
ReplyDeleteWhen I updated on Jan 1 the app I lost the psalms in daily readings. Only have the first reading and Gospel . I deleted the app and reinstalled to no avail. What is the fix?
ReplyDeleteSorry the psalms are not included this year. The data I received this year for the daily readings did not include the psalms.
DeleteToday 2/12/17 the Gospel is Matt not Mrk. Your NABRE has Mrk 5. This is wrong. Can you please correct the APP? Version 7.1. It's confusing as it is.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI've been using the read the Bible in a year feature. After today's update, the OT reading is always Genesis 1:1 (e.g. I was on day 79 pre-update [Dt 17-18, Ps 79, Lk 1:1-20]. For day 80 post update, the highlighted sections are Gen 1:1, Gen 1:1, Ps 80, Lk 1:21-38
A fix is on the way.
DeleteThanks. I will check this Sunday's Gospel.
DeleteDownloaded and fixed! Many thanks.
DeletePeace
Thank you for issuing the fix to the read the Bible in a Year feature. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteHello, Greg. Thanks for creating this app. I enjoy using it daily especially for the read the Bible in a year program. Is it possible to provide syncing between my iPhone and iPad apps regarding progress made on each of the daily readings? Sometimes I do the Bible in a year program from my phone and sometimes my iPad but they each have me left off on the date where I last read from that particular device. Any help on this is much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Brian Bucher
An update for iOS 13 is on its way.

ReplyDeleteHi Greg
ReplyDeleteI’ve enjoyed using this app for years now. It’s a wonderful app and works very well. I did run into a snag though on January 1, 2921: there are no readings for the day appearing I do how all is well and that you have not abandoned the app as you do have a tremendous following. Looking forward to this years 2021, liturgical year being loaded.
Thank you
Paula P
Working on an update which includes the 2021 readings, should be available in a couple of weeks.
DeleteCan you add instructions for how to read the “Read the Bible in a year”? Are we supposed to read the passage that correlates with the cycle for that day or all passages for that day regardless of cycle?
ReplyDeleteThe title located at the top middle ranges from "Day 1X" to "Day 365X", so read everything for that numbered day. X is either "A" which is the Old Testament, "B" which is usually a psalm and "C" which is usually the New Testament.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteThe apple watch app does not show the Bible. 😭
ReplyDeleteCorrect. Shows the liturgical day and a prayer.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteI do not see that this is a paid app. I was charged for this. Please advise. I have asked Apple to look into this.
ReplyDeleteI can't swipe off the highlights. The bookmarks swipe off ok. Imlike the app. Thanks
ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you for your work on this app. Previously, I was carrying a slightly larger than pocket-size bible and writing in the margins or highlighting text. I have recently installed on my iPhone 15 Pro and it seems to work just fine. One minor suggestion. I would like to be able to highlight multiple verses at one time rather than each verse individually. I didn't see where writing notes for highlighted passages was possible. Am I missing something? I know adding a feature like this involves local storage. If it's not possible/practical I understand.
ReplyDeleteAgain thank you for your work on this. God bless.
I just purchased this app mainly for the read bible in a year feature. However it does not go in Canonical order. Not sure what order it is. If there is no way to use bible in a year in Canonical order I will be requesting a refund.
